Pink T-Shirt Day...Stand Up To Bullying

Tomorrow, February 27th, is Pink Shirt Day!

Wearing pink, "symbolizes that we as a society will not tolerate bullying anywhere".

Hope to see you in pink tomorrow!

For more information please check out the initiative that started when two young teenage boys took a stand against bullying, and with their actions declared that colours are for everyone.

Lumberjack Day

100's Day...look closer!! We used technology to turn ourselves into 100 year olds. (These are some of my favourite pics. Too funny!)

We used both Lumberjack Day and our 100's Day pics to spark some writing as we practice editing and revising and making our writing more detailed.

The children are always asking, "Can it be MY turn to read to the class today?! Please?!" I love seeing how proud they are of their growing skills and confidence.

We did some shared reading of a Valentine Poem and then the children took turns unscrambling and reconfiguring the poem again.

We've been taking a few moments to recenter ourselves with some Mindfulness Moments, Deep Breathing and Calming Strategies.

The children are working on Numeracy Skills right now, particularly the 'part, part, whole' strategy of recognizing two parts can be combined to create a whole. They've been engaged in some deep learning, and collaboration using sentence stems, "I agree with you because..." & "I disagree because..." & "I think...because..." in creating number sentences and addition problems.

We had a beautiful day for our Winter Carnaval and we even got to welcome Bonhomme to St. Anne! The children had a blast engaging in more than 12 different physical challenges outside in the deep snow, including snow soccer, ball hockey, frisbee golf, freeze tag, and more. There was friendly competition and lots of collaboration. We won some, we lost some (we learned that Mrs. Wong's grade one class is super strong, as they repeated beat us in tug of war with ease!) and we had so much fun. I bet the children slept really well last night.

Enjoy a beautiful weekend!!

February

We have some fun and excitement planned for the children at St. Anne this coming week:
Mon February 11th ~ Franco-Ontarien Day (wear green and white)
Tues February 12th ~ Lumberjack Day (wear your plaid flannel proudly)
Wed February 13th ~ Winter Carnaval de Saint Anne (outdoor winter play day. Primary = AM)
Thurs February 14th ~ Valentine's Day (wear red, pink, white) & School Council Raffle Day
Fri February 15th ~ PD Day (aka, 'teacher school')

Please ensure that you are sending your child to school with layers, extra socks, hats & mittens on Wednesday (consider also packing an extra change of clothing) and be sure to beef up their lunch and snacks (perhaps a warm thermos meal) as the children will be sure to work up a big appetite playing outside all morning long.

Report Cards will be coming home also on Wednesday. This term there is no school-wide scheduled parent-teacher interview night, but I will be calling &/or meeting with parents if I do have concerns. If you would like to discuss your child's report card, please write me a note in their agenda. Thank you!
